May 31, 1949 ~ November 7, 2025
Stanislaw Rowinski, aged 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital - 4 North, with his son Derek at his side.
Stan was born May 31, 1949, to Jan and Emilia Rowinski in Lubcza, Poland on a small farm. During this time, Stan married his best friend Zuzanna Wadas. They moved to Tarnow, Poland and he worked as a heavy-duty farm equipment mechanic. While in Tarnow, his only child, Derek, was born. With things in Poland being unstable, on October 29, 1988, Stan and Derek left Poland to be closer to Zuzanna in Ontario. Stan made Toronto his new home, where he resided until 2015 when he had his first stroke. At that time, he decided it was time to be even closer to family and moved to Thunder Bay. His last few years, he lived in Jasper Place, where the staff were able to help him continue living (mostly) on his own. During this time, some staff became extended family. Stan's favorite time in life was when he became Dzia Dzia to Lucas and Alice. Dzia Dzia always looked forward to pizza parties with them.
Stan is lovingly remembered by his son Derek and daughter-in-law Alyssa and their two children, Lucas and Alice Rowinski, as well as his ex-wife and best friend Zuzanna Rowinska. He is also survived by oldest brother Antoni (Maria) and youngest sister Helena (Franciszek) Grabowski, along with numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. Also, niece Ewelina (Thomas Szopa) and her children Artur, Kamil and Nadia here in Thunder Bay.
Stan was predeceased by his parents Jan and Emilia, siblings Zofia and Mieczyslaw Rowinski.
We would like to express our appreciation to everyone that's been involved with Stan's care over the years, including but not limited to: Terra, Laura, Eryn, Lexie and all staff at Jasper Place, as well as the staff on 4 North at St. Joseph's.
Funeral Services for Stan Rowinski will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore St, with Archdeacon Deborah Kraft officiating. A private interment will take place in St. Andrew's Cemetery at a later date.
