STEPHEN JACKSON Obituary

JACKSON
It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen Jackson announces his passing at the all too early age of 52 on October 13, 2025.

Steve was born in Brantford, Ontario and moved to Thunder Bay with his parents as a newborn.

While he grew up attending Agnew H. Johnston School and Sir Winston Churchill C.V.I., his greatest education was from the vast number of books that he read on his favourite topics including history, military and aeronautics.

When his quiet soul wasn't hidden behind a book he enjoyed spending his time with the many folk he considered friends over the years conversing and often debating world events, politics and history.

Those who knew him best saw his kind and generous soul that was always ready to help or give advice when needed.

It seems as though he conquered the meaning of life, at least according to Monty Python: "Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in and try to live together in peace and harmony."

Stephen will be greatly missed by those who he left behind including his mother Barbara, brothers Sean and Charles and his little sister Heather.

This favourite uncle will be missed by his nephews and nieces Emmalee, Jillian, Benjamin, Sofia, Lily, Donovan, Jamie and Ellie (aka "Mini Little Sister") and by his Uncle Arthur, Aunt Nioma as well as cousins Lyle, Twila, Kevin, Colin, Allan and Gemma.

His family is comforted knowing that he is now reunited with his father William, Aunt May, Uncle Jim and Grandparents who have passed on before him.

The service for Stephen will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22nd at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 2255 Ponderosa Drive, Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Stephen was one of the first friends I made at Agnew H. Johnston school back when I moved there from Heath Park after grade 1. He and I, along with Kyle Wallace and Dave Sutton became fast friends, and stayed good friends all the way through elementary school. I remember being in boy scouts with Stephen, and Birthday parties and sleepovers, and building bike jumps and practicing our golf swing in the fields by St. Francis school.
We lost touch when high-school started, I don't even remember how or why. I didn't even know that his dad had passed. I'm so sorry for your loss Mrs. Jackson, Sean, Charles and Heather. Sending positive vibes your way.

Stephen Jackson, or Steel Jackson as I called him was a great man to know. We came up with that nickname while working the trenches at Naxos. I always joked with him how it sounded like a super hero´s name! I found it suited him well. I worked with him many years ago. He was very knowledgeable and kind. He always lended a helping hand. His conversations he shared with me are still appreciated to this day. Sending my deepest condolences.
