The family of Mr. Steve Himes, 69 years, resident of Thunder Bay, is heartbroken to announce his unexpected passing on September 9th, 2018. Last year he retired after many years of employment driving tractor trailer. He was predeceased by his mom and dad Helen and Walter, father-in-law P.J., brothers Edward (in infancy), Wally Jr., Ken Sr., brother-in-law DeWayne, sister-in-law Elaine and nephew Todd. As per Steve's wishes, no service will be held. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Dear Steve and Family
I am sad of course as we all are. Uncle Steve was a pillar of this family and a popular community soul.
As a child I never forgot those rides out to the country to see Steve and Albert at Christmas. These were the calmest and nicest times. This side of the family made visiting so very wonderful as a child.
Later on I grew and became more of a man I appreciated Uncle Steve and his clever witticisms and views on life.
And just a year ago or so, he took me and Auntie Lynn on a an auto journey, back in time, to rural Northern Ontario. I was so impressed with the stories and the lives of the elders, their homes and their pasts.
I will never forget how Uncle Steve let me hop out the car and see the mama moose off 200 meters to our 10 o'clock position. I was actually fearful of being suddenly charged by this gigantic muscular mammal that I could barely go past the ditch.
Needless to say Uncle Steve, that beautiful man, kept the vehicle running as I ran back to the safety of the car. Uncle Steve and Auntie Lynn laughed at the west coast city slicker who had never seen a moose.
Peace and Love to Steve and his family.
If you are every in Victoria, you have a place to stay, at the city slickers house.( We have little deer).
RIP you intelligent and loving gentleman, STEVE HIMES
Love Kenny Himes
