Mr. Steve Petrushak, age 85 years, resident of Thunder Bay, died on Friday, June 29, 2007 in St. Joseph's Hospice. Steve was born on September 21, 1921 in Sheho, Saskatchewan. Steve married Pearl Hubelit in Port Arthur, Ontario on January 7, 1941. In the early years Steve and his wife Pearl farmed in Sheho, Saskatchewan before moving to Schreiber, Ontario in 1955, where Steve worked in the Terrace Bay Paper Mill. When they moved to Thunder Bay, Steve was employed by the City of Thunder Bay as Maintenance Manager at Patterson Court, when it first opened in 1983 and worked there until he retired. Steve and Pearl lived in Patterson Court until January 2007, when they moved to Jasper Place. Steve is survived by his wife Pearl, daughters Shirley (Ed) Miller, and Myrtle Joy (Peter Hayward), and son Mervin Petrushak, Edmonton, Alberta, four grandchildren: Dwaine Miller (Cathy Venasky), Steven Miller (Dawn Whitehurst), Rick Miller (Kathie Potocnik) and Holly Hayward (Jamie Vance). Five great grandchildren: Courtney Miller, Cassandra Miller, Anthony Miller, Jordon Miller, and Maxwell Miller; several nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his mother Oxana Petrushak, father Metro Petrushak, brother John Petrushak, sisters Mary (Fred) Kolisnik, Jennie (George) Hoffman, Anne (Jack) Skyberg. Memorial service for Steve will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jan Stevenson of Wesley United Church officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Foundation, Hospice Unit or the charity of your choice.
