SUSAN ALTON Obituary

SUSAN ALTON (SAVILLE)
Susan Alton, age 65, of Carman Manitoba, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre after a brief battle with cancer. Born July 31, 1960 in Fort Frances, Ontario, Sue grew up with her family in both Mine Centre and Thunder Bay. She attended the Mine Centre School, John Street School, and Hammarskjold High School.

Sue became a mom to her son Levi in 1981. They spent a lot of time together working at the arcade and fixing pinballs. She was the type of mom with an open house and arms to provide a space for many of Levi's friends.

She spent the majority of her working career as a founder and manager of R.O.N.S. Virtual World in Thunder Bay, where she introduced the city's millennial generation to the world of laser tag and arcade games. If you ever had a birthday party at R.O.N.S., Sue was the person who made your day extra special!

In 2015, Sue moved to Carman to be near Levi and his family and shortly after, her mother Gwen came to live with her. She spent the last 10 years enjoying life with her family and her pets. One of Sue's greatest joys in life was becoming a Gramma. She devoted every Sunday to taking her grandchildren out to lunch. She would always have crafts on hand to do, baking to enjoy with the kids, parks to visit and shopping trips planned.

She spent many years working at the Co-Op Food Store in Carman. After volunteering at Boyne Lodge, where her mom resides, she decided to follow her heart and start her "dream job" in a part-time position in the Adult Day Program. Sue was a kind and generous person with a big heart for animals, especially those who needed some TLC.

Sue is survived by her mom Gwen Saville, her son Levi Alton (Liana) and her grandchildren Makinley and Emmett. Sue is also survived by her three brothers Greg, Mark (Claudia) and Jonathan (Marilyne) as well as her nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased by her father Cecil Saville in 2016.

Special thanks to the staff at the Boundary Trails Health Centre and CancerCare Manitoba for taking great care of Sue during the past 7 weeks. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Cardinal Room at the CLE grounds in Thunder Bay on October 19, 2025 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kat's Kritters Rescue.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Very sad to hear of Susan´s passing. I knew her through her work at RONS virtual world. I worked at the bowling center and she took care of our games and pool tables. A very smart and nice person. Gone too soon.
