SUSAN BERRINGER Obituary

November 3, 1942 - September 9, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Marie Berringer (Knauff) announces her peaceful passing at home in the early hours of September 9, 2024.

Susan was born to Cedric and Elizabeth Knauff on November 3, 1942, in Port Arthur, ON. She was raised in Westfort where she resided for the rest of her life. She attended St Martin's, St. Patrick's and Selkirk schools. She was employed as a clerk at Bell Canada and retired after over 30 years of service. Every weekend of the summer was spent camping with her family and friends including many years at Gibson's Resort where she would never turn down a rum and coke around the campfire. In her retirement, she and her husband Bob enjoyed vacationing with lifelong friends to places such as Alaska, Europe, Texas, and the Caribbean. Susan gave back to the sport she loved through volunteering at many curling events such as The Scotties, The Hope Classic, and The World Juniors. Susan could often be found on the golf course or on the curling rink. She was a proud mother of two daughters and devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren whom she proudly supported through all their endeavors.

Susan is survived by her husband Bob, daughters Leigh (Thomas) Abthorpe and Debbie (Derek) Geddes, and grandchildren Sarah (Andrew) King, Daniel Abthorpe, Nathan Geddes (Mackenzie Brassard), Carly Geddes, and Erica Geddes. She is also survived by her siblings Ann Burnside, Bud (Kathy) Knauff, Jim (Darlene) Knauff and many other family members.

She was predeceased by her parents, Cedric and Elizabeth Knauff, brother-in-law Rick Burnside and nephew Brent Burnside, brother and sister-in-law Avery and Betty Duncan, nephew David Duncan and in-laws Pete and Norah Berringer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Davinci Center on Monday, September 16th, 2024, from 1:00-4:00pm in the Michaelangelo room.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association or a Charity of Your Choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.

I remember Pat from school days and just bumming around a bunch of us.
She hasn't changed one bit except for the colour of her hair. She was a fun person to hang out with. Condolences to the family. She was a sweet gal.
