Susie was the first girl I kissed (and vice-versa), Bobby was there as well kissing his first girl, Barbara, next door, same story. (Over the tracks, onto a path through the nearby bush. The kissing came to an end at the appearance of a rather large toad. I think we took it home to show around.) Were we even 10 years old? (We DIDN'T play doctor and nurse.)
Our families were neighbors on North Herald Street. Elsie (a force to be reckoned with) and my mother, Betty, were part of a long-lived women's (penny-ante) neighborhood poker club. Great annual 'Club Picnics', lots of post-war children. Elsie and my mother were war brides, my mother from New Brunswick, Elsie from across the pond, of course. Our two families each had 4 kids in corresponding years. I remember well Donna and Terry too. (Mandy some years later?)
A lovely picture there with her long, curly, blonde hair. I can hear her voice as I type. We happened upon each other now and then before she moved to Vancouver. She was always friendly, soft-spoken and respectful.
I offer my condolences

My condolences to the family. RIP Susan. I was part of your life for a short time so many years ago when you took me in to stay with you in that little apartment in Vancouver. You were such a kind and gentle soul. I will always remember.
