Suzanne Donaldson

(nee Gagnon) Suzanne Donaldson, 59, a resident of Grandview Lodge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with her family at her side. Suzanne was born in Lindsay, Ont on July 26th 1954 to Larry and Alice Gagnon. From Lindsay the family moved to North Bay where she attended St Joseph's Separate school for grades 1 and 2. After moving to Thunder Bay in 1960 she attended school at St. Edwards and Sir Winston Churchill High where she was very involved in school activities and was a proud member of the cheerleader squad. Suzanne was particularly proud of being an ambassador to the City of Thunder Bay when she won the Miss Teen Thunder Bay Beauty Pageant in 1972 and participated in community events throughout the year. After high school Suzanne trained and worked as a flight attendant with Transair. Suzanne went on to work at various jobs throughout the City in her early adult years, however she stopped working when she became a mother to her most cherished children, Kevin and Mark. Suzanne was married to Roger Donaldson in 1974 and gave birth to Kevin in 1976 and Mark in 1978. Suzanne lived for her kids and was actively involved in their lives right up to the time she developed some disabling health issues and could not care for them any longer. During her entire life Suzanne was given great strength by her devotion to her faith and love of God. She was a devote Catholic and a parishioner at St. Agnes Parish where she was a lector right up to the time she could no longer do it. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Larry Gagnon, brothers Brian and Jon-Pierre, sister and best friend Mary Jane and loving son Kevin. Suzanne is survived by her son Mark and his father Roger, sister Joanne Bascello (Dan), brothers Larry (Debra), Marcel (Karen), brother-in-law Dan Baxter and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral services for the late, Suzanne Donaldson will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013, when family and friends will gather for funeral mass at 12:10pm, in St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Vigil services will be offered on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 7:00pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Wesway Thunder Bay, or a charity of your choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Suzanne Donaldson in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 8, 2014.
