Sylvia Siira

Mrs. Sylvia Siira, age 96 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in Bethammi Nursing Home, on Saturday, November 9th, 2013.Sylvia cleaned private homes and worked for Calvin Presbyterian Church on Surrey Street. She belonged to the Finlander Association and loved dancing and singing in the women's choir. Over the years she gardened, crocheted and embroidered - always keeping busy. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her nieces Norma Pyhtila (Reijo), Margaret Marion (Bob); nephew Rick Kukko (Lillian), Kitty (wife of the late Ray Kukko); cousins Maria Vieno Mackie and Linnea Hogard. Other relatives and friends also survive. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Kauno; parents Axel and Hanna Maki (nee Seppala); sisters Lily Kukko (Waino), Alma Maki; nephew Ray Kukko.Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. Private interment in Riverside Cemetery will take place at a later date.
