T. Dronsfield Obituary

November 15, 1934 –
April 22, 2016

On April 22, 2016 mother, T. Thelma Dronsfield, was called to heaven to be reunited with the love of her life, our father as he sang, The sun is shining, oh happy day, no more troubles and no more skies of grey.

Together my parents created a loving family with four children, Cathy (Barry) McGuire, Barbara (William) White, David (Diane) Dronsfield and Michael (Kelly) Dronsfield, along with 11 grandchildren and five great grand-children.

Life for Thelma did not only include raising four children with her wonderful husband but also owning and operating a department store, Stedman's and travelling throughout North American with her husband Bud Dronsfield until his passing seventeen years ago. Thelma then stayed in Victoria BC, travelling exploring our wonderful earth. She returned to Thunder Bay a few years ago where she reconnected with old friends until her passing.

Mom was an inspiration to all that knew her and a friend to numerous people. She was a positive role model who provided her children with the passion for the outdoors, travelling and yes sometimes even opera.

Mom's kind heart was also reflected in her passion for volunteering. She volunteered with the Goldstream Food bank, as well as doing palliative care with the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.

Mom is survived by her six sisters, Joyce Beauchamp (Con), Maureen Moffat (Darrell), Gail Carriere, Jackie Falk (Vic), Sharon Kowalchuk (Jim) and Dawn Grover (Gary) along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.

There were seven sisters each different from the other and yet somehow they all fit together like pieces of a puzzle held together by love and loyalty completing one and another.

A special thank you to the wonderful management and staff at Chartwell Retirement Residences. As well, words cannot be expressed for the amazing and compassionate care mom received from the EMT's that brought her to TBRH and the amazing and hard working Nurses and Doctors who treated mom in the ER and in 2C.

As mom always said, “Remember who you belong to”

As per moms wishes, a celebration of moms life will be held with a luncheon on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N Cumberland St. from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Please accept our condolences for your loss. I'll always remember your Mom's welcoming smile when I saw her at Stedman's or when David and I used to hang out at your house as kids. Our thoughts are with all of you. Take good care.

We are very sorry for your loss. Thelma was such a caring person and we enjoyed her when we saw her at Christama with Mike Kelly and Brandon. We will all miss her. Al & Shirley

Hello Cathy and family.
I have not seen you since our young years but I remember your Mom well. She hosted our special group of grade 6 girls for cooking classes? Your Mom and Dad were very kind to my parents and Bud and Thelma were a great support to them. My Mom is at Chartwell and I have seen your mom recently. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and felt I wanted to send you my regards.
