TAMMY NICHOLS Obituary

January 8, 1970 ~ February 18, 2026
Tammy Louise Nichols (Laing), a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at 9:08 p.m. in Toronto, Ontario.

Born at McKellar Hospital in Fort William to Valerie Laing and the late Fred Laing, Tammy was a woman of deep compassion who dedicated much of her life to caring for others. For many years, she worked as a Personal Support Worker, supporting and advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities. She also enjoyed her time working at Walmart, where her friendly nature and warm smile were well known to customers and coworkers alike.

Following her heart transplant, Tammy held a strong desire to attend nursing school so she could continue her lifelong calling of helping and healing others.

Tammy was predeceased by her father, Fred Laing; her beloved son, Jaden; and her aunts and uncles Lucy, Joanne, Ronnie, Mitchell, and Jim.

She leaves behind her loving mother, Valerie Laing, and her husband and sweetheart, Jerry Nichols, both of Thunder Bay. Tammy was a devoted mother to seven children: Ashley McMann (Lee), Chantell Laing (Richy Dennis), Paige Laing, Shawn Laing, Derek Laing, Jordan Nichols, and Brooklyn Nichols.

Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Ryerson, son of Ashley and Lee, and Abbie, Caleb, and Paisley, children of Chantell and Richy.

Tammy is also lovingly remembered by her sister Patricia (Patti) Guzman and brother in law Magdaleno (Mac) Guzman of DeRidder, Louisiana, along with her niece and nephews Danielle, Miles, and Braedon.

She will also be fondly remembered by her surviving aunts and uncles Ray (Donna) Ladelle, Donald (Sonny) Ladelle (Loralyn), Karen Ladelle (Al Bobinsky), Margaret "Marg" Laing, and Bonnie Laing as well as her cousins Lori (Lawrence) Zebiere, Lorrie (Mike) Dykstra, Donny (Shara) Ladelle, Ryan Ladelle, and Adam Ladelle.

In accordance with her wishes, Tammy has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer in Thunder Bay, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the many lives she touched.

Tammy will be remembered for her strong spirit, her determination, her spunky sense of humor, and her love for her family.
