Tanya Petryna Obituary

Mrs. Tanya Petryna (nee Gacki) age 50 years, was called home to be with her Lord after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, February 11, 2002 with her family by her side. Born and raised in Fort William, Tanya attended Ogden Public and Selkirk High Schools where she was active in all sports. Following her schooling Tanya worked for various legal firms as a Secretary and Law Clerk. Tanya married Ron Petryna in 1987 and joined him in operating the family dairy farm. Tanya was a member of the Slate River Women's Institute, O.F.A. and the Farm Women's Organization. Tanya expressed her faith in God in her daily life. She enjoyed looking after her family, helping others and working in the garden.Tanya is survived by her husband Ron, son Tj, daughter Ronnie, mother Emily Pugh, mother-in-law and father-in-law Elsie and Mike Petryna. Numerous other relatives and close friends also survive. She was predeceased by her stepfather Ronald Pugh. Funeral services for Tanya will be held on Friday, February 15, 2002 when friends and family will gather for Divine Liturgy at 1:00pm in the Church of The Holy Cross celebrated by Very Rev. Bohdan Bilinsky. Panachyda will be offered in the Church of the Holy Cross on Thursday evening at 7:00pm. If friends desire, memorials to the Hospice Unit of St. Joseph's Care Group would be appreciated.A tree will be planted in memory of Tanya Petryna in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
