April 17th 1953 ~ January 14th 2026
We are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Ted Wiitala on January 14, 2026. Ted was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and kindness to everyone who knew him. He was a very simple and humble man.
Ted adored his wife, Nel, who lovingly called him "Teddy". He would do absolutely anything for her. Their bond was built on love, devotion, and companionship, and she was truly the center of his world.
Family meant everything to Ted, and he took great pride in being there for the people he loved most.
Ted shared an incredibly close bond with his daughter Sarah. From the moment Ted entered her life when she was just four years old, he was her dad in every way that mattered. He loved her as his own, supported her, and nothing ever changed that bond. Their connection was strong, constant, and filled with love.
Ted was also the proud father of Robbie, who passed away at a young age. Though Robbie's life was far too short, Ted carried him in his heart always. There is comfort in knowing that Ted now has the chance to be reunited with his son once again.
He was also a loving father to Ashley. Although they lived in different provinces, the distance never diminished his love for him.
Ted shared a special bond with his brother, Bernie, built on laughter, music, and time spent together. They enjoyed time playing guitar and harmonica side by side, sharing songs, stories, and many good times. Their connection was one of joy and brotherhood that will always be remembered.
He had a deep love for music and found joy in playing his guitars, especially when teaching his grandchildren new songs, moments that created memories they will cherish forever. Music was a constant in his life, just as laughter was. Ted was known for his kind heart, loving nature, and unforgettable sense of humor. He had a gift for telling corny jokes and always knew how to put a smile on people's faces.
Ted also had a special love for dogs, over the years Nel and Ted had many dogs together that they both cherished, with their most recent dogs being Boomer and Betty.
He also had a love for tattoos, and meaningful expression. Each tattoo he carried told a story and held personal significance, reflecting the depth of his character and experiences.
Lastly, He enjoyed his work at Home Depot, where coworkers quickly became friends, and he took pride in being part of a team and connecting with people every day up until the very end.
Ted will be remembered for his generosity, his laughter, his music, and the love he so freely gave. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and unforgettable memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
Ted is survived by his Wife Nelly (Nel) Wiitala, Daughter Sarah Chamut/ Shayne Kilpatrick, Son Ashely Chamut, Brother Bernie Wiitala/ Ritva Wiitala. Niece Layla Wiitala, his grandchildren Kayla Bernauer, Matthew Bernauer and Andrew Bernauer and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
