After a day spent with family by her side, as her favorite movie, The Sound of Music, played in the background, Therese Gerilyn "Terry" Nesti died peacefully in her sleep while in hospice care at St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay on the night of December 21, 2025. A beloved wife, a devoted mother, a loving grandmother and a dear friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Terry embraced the simple joys of life, saw each day as a gift, and fought a brave battle with cancer.
Born on June 11, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Terry was the precious only child of Anthony John and Emily Mary Ann Olesinski. Growing up in Fridley, Minnesota and spending many holidays and summers in her mother's hometown of Willow River, Minnesota, Terry's childhood was full of faith, family and fun. Her cherished memories included vacations all over the States with her parents, playing with her many cousins and neighborhood friends, spending time with her dear Auntie Mary, and seeing movies at the local drive-in. Through her teens and early twenties, she worked at McDonald's, Medtronic and International Multifoods. Along the way, a travelling roofer from Thunder Bay named Roland caught her eye. She followed her heart, marrying Roland in 1981 and moving to Thunder Bay. Though she remained a proud American citizen, she loved and embraced her new home. Together, they had three sons Jason, John, and Thomas. Devoted to her family, she was there for each of them through thick and thin, and her life in Thunder Bay was full of more cherished memories, family trips and adventures.
She is survived by her husband Roland, sons Jason, John and Thomas, grandson Anthony, sister-in-law Erminia Toffanin (Luigi), brother-in-law Lucien Nesti (Jody), nieces, nephew, and many cousins. She is preceded in the death by her parents Anthony and Emily Olesinski, parents-in-law Giovanni and Umbertina Nesti, three cousins and numerous uncles and aunts. Her family would like to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff at St. Joseph's Hospital hospice unit, TBRHSC Cancer Care Centre and VON home care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are in care of Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
