Thomas Blab Obituary

It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, nephew and best friend.

Thomas, Alan Blab passed away unexpectedly at the age of 30 years old on November 9, 2017 while away at work in Bissett, Manitoba.

Thomas was an underground miner and loved his work, he particularly liked driving raise and was very good at his job.

He worked hard and played even harder. He had a big heart and was always there for his friends. Thomas enjoyed fishing and his workouts at the gym and was quite the ladie's man.

Thomas was born on September 23, 1987 in The Pas, Manitoba to the delight of his parents Alan and Shelly. He was such a good-natured baby whose trademark glances and curly-lipped grin, carried him into adulthood. Soon after, Thomas was excited to greet his brother Andrew into the family. He doted on Andrew and was protective of his new sibling. Then the duo became a trio with the addition of one more brother, Matthew. The family lived in a few small towns along the way as time passed and careers changed. The house was filled with the carryings on of brotherly laughter, the inevitable arguments and childhood shenanigans.

In his early years Thomas lived with Shelly, his mother, and his brothers in Moncton, NB. Eventually, Thomas came to live with Alan in Red Rock, Ontario and finally settled in Thunder Bay, ON. He lived with his father, Alan and stepmother, Connie for a time as he followed in his father's footsteps and embarked on his career in underground mining. He was a proud young man who took great care and concern in his work. He will be remembered for his handsome good looks, easy smile, and caring for those who were important to him in life.

A private service was held at the Blab/Johnson residence on November 18, 2017, for family and close friends.

We would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt Facebook posts, many personal condolences, flowers, cards and gifts. We are grateful for the support of our loved ones at this most terrible of times. Our lives will never be the same.

Thomas will always live on in the hearts
of all who knew him and be forever loved and missed.

So very sorry to hear the news from you today Al that Thomas has passed over...so so sad and shocking. Thomas...so handsome and dashing...always protective of his brothers even if it meant the odd slap across the head. I would see him occasionally and he was very proud to be a miner like his dad. He had a passion for life and lived it adventurously. I know this season makes it quite difficult with Thomas not here--his spirit roams freely...please know my heart and prayers are with you all. Thomas...fly high and free...may the memories bring you some comfort...words can't express the loss you are all feeling.

Sad news to hear about my friend. I remember we had some good times and bad but hey what do you do? We were living together in Kimberley BC when our parents were dating. One story my mother always reminds me of is when we shared our birthday party together. We had all left the room or house can't quite remember and while we were gone our cake had gone missing. We looked all over and finally lifted the table cover and found our dog Killer had devoured the whole thing. A couple years later we ended up meeting up again in Sioux Lookout. My friends became his friends and we all got along well. We laughed and did all the crazy things teenagers do. Probably things I shouldn't mention. After the summer we had all lost touch. For whatever reason I had thought about contacting Thomas a few months back but never did and I regret it. . These things are never forgotten but do get easier. Take care my friend and I will always remember the good times, I've been giggling about the trouble we used to raise, like the time we almost started a forest fire duuuhh! I left with a burnt jacket. My deepest sympathies go out to you Alan and his family. Keep on keeping on!
