THOMAS CHALAT Obituary

THOMAS M. CHALAT December 13, 1951 - May 3, 2025
It is with profound sadness and sorrow that Tom's family announces his sudden passing at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre on May 3, 2025 with his wife and family by his side.

Tom was a fighter and whenever he was stricken with health issues, he was earnest to meet the challenge. His recent challenge threw a curved ball resulting in his body's inability to win.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Carla Chalat; mother Gertrude Chalat; sister Patti Garbutt; daughters Tammy Chalat, Kim Chalat; grandsons Cy Mann (Tia Annivale), Bryn Boyer and Karsten Morozzo; niece Nicole Garbutt (Scott Letkeman) and their son Porter Garbutt-Letkeman.

Tom was predeceased by father Peter Chalat; step-daughter Lindsay Boyer and brother-in-law John Garbutt.

Tom was a lucky child to be brought up at Oliver Lake and he took full advantage of the outdoors. He enjoyed being outside, helping his mom and dad and enjoying many family and friend's gatherings.

Tom and Carla enjoy all the aspects of being by the lake at Thousand Lakes Resort, hunting, fishing and enjoying camp fires, smores, swimming and being around close friends. We shared many happy times with meals and camp fire songs. Tom was an avid hunter and was able to be successful at getting his moose with his hunting party. He so enjoyed when they would get together planning their next hunt. Tom was right where he wanted to be outside enjoying life.

Tom will be missed by so many; you loved unconditionally and gave your love freely. Rest peacefully.
There will be a Celebration for Tom Chalat on May 16, 2025 at the Castlegreen Community Centre at 213 Castlegreen Drive at 2:00 pm. We invite our family and friends to come and share his remembrance.
