Thomas McClay Obituary

McCLAY
It is with profound sorrow that the family of Thomas Reginald (Reg) McClay, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2023 at the age of 94 years old, at the TBRHSC with his loving family by his side.

Born on September 1, 1928 in Winnipeg Manitoba to parents Gladys & Robert McClay. He, along with his brother John McClay and his sister Dorothy Motherwell were all raised and educated there. He left Winnipeg in his mid-twenties to move to Thunder Bay Ontario, where he eventually met the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Pauline. Then in 1969, they welcomed their daughter Karen.

Reg worked many jobs throughout his life that eventually sparked his interest in finance. From there he got into the insurance business working for Bonin-Dobie Jackson, eventually becoming a part owner until his retirement.

He had many hobbies and interests such as reading Louis L'Amour novels, golfing, hunter's safety, playing cards, bowling, bench rest shooting and his absolute favourite past time, playing pool at the Moose hall with his team-mates. Reg also enjoyed many trips to places like Jamaica, Nassau, Niagra and Las Vegas with Pauline and special friends.

Reg will be deeply and forever missed by his wife Pauline, daughter Karen, grand-daughters Hillary & Jamie, and fur baby Bo. As well as many other extended family and friends across the country. He was predeceased by his parents Gladys & Robert, siblings John & Dorothy, nephews Ian & Ross McClay and niece Heather McClay.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary donation to the Canadian Hemophilia Society, Ottawa Ontario KIP 5W5 Canada. PO Box 2370 Station D.

Played pool with Reg since the early 2000´s. He always enjoyed playing the game and still was surprisingly good in his last season. We´re going to miss you Reg. Condolences to your family.
