It is with great sadness that the family of Tim Allen (the tool man), 79 years young, announce his passing at his home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Tim was born in the township of Sifton, Ontario on May 22, 1939 to Samuel Benjamin and Hildegarde Allen. Tim worked for Local 759 Ironworkers for many many years on countless job sites throughout Northwestern Ontario and beyond, finally officially retiring for good at the age of 72. Tim spent countless hours in his shop at home taking things apart and rebuilding them and he took special delight in building all of his antique cars from the bottom up. He loved spending time out at camp and going to car shows and swap meets and never seemed capable of coming home empty handed.
Tim was known as the real "Tim the tool man" as there seemed to be nothing that he couldn't build or fix and he was often heard to say "we'll figure something out" and the harder the challenge the more joy he got out of it. The homemade BBQ at camp has fed hundreds and left all craving more of not only the great food grilled up but the countless memories had by all. Tim will be deeply missed by his wife Dot, daughter Sandy (Bob), son Bob (Ali), daughter Tracy (Kenny) and grandson Robbie (Shyla), brother Daniel (Michelle), sister Pat (Jack) and his special niece Cheryl. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Hildegarde, brothers Lorne and Ben, sister Mary and his son Stephen and his nephew Jack. Tim also leaves behind his best buddy Ruffie. A special thank you to Dr. Kirk, Dr. Puskas , and Dr. Harris for their support and special care they gave to Tim over the last few months and a heartfelt thank you to Cindy - Administrative Coordinator, Emergency Nurse Melissa and the staff from 3C, especially Melissa, Jenilee, Karlie, Courtney, Cynthia, Liane, Sam and Sandra and thank you to the Ambutrans crew who helped us bring Tim home to spend his last few hours in his own home. Everyone's support and kindness through this difficult time was greatly appreciated by Tim and his family. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 1 from 2:00 - 4:00pm at the Kakabeka Falls Legion and friends and family are invited to come and share their memories. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society.
