Timothy O'Donovan Obituary
O'Donovan Nov. 26, 1941 - Sept.17, 2006 It is with the heaviest of hearts that the O'Donovan family must announce the passing of Mr. Timothy Christopher O'Donovan, age 64. Tim was born in Tipperary, Ireland where he lived with his Mother Margarita and his sister Margaret until October 1946, when they relocated to Hudson, Ontario to join their father. Tim was always a hard worker and made sure the people he loved were always taken care of. He left school in Grade 9 and went to work at a local sawmill. He remained there until he ventured out to British Columbia to work in the sawmill industry there. It was in Williams Lake, BC in 1963 where he met his future wife Shirley whom he married on his birthday in 1964. After the birth of their first child in 1965, they moved back to Hudson, ON where Tim worked various jobs only to settle back into the sawmill industry. The local sawmill changed names and hands many times over the course of his employment, but it wasn't until 1977 that Ken Buchanan bought Abitibi Forest Products and changed the name to McKenzie Forest Products, Inc. It was there that Tim would remain for 27 years, 12 as the Plant Superintendent and 13 as the Mill Manager. Tim retired from McKenzie in October 2004 and moved himself and his wife to Thunder Bay to work as a consultant for the Buchanan Company until his passing. When he wasn't in the sawmill you could find him tending to his flowers and "puttering" around in his garden. He loved to fish and golf and on Saturdays, he loved to visit with his pals down at the Legion for a couple of hours. Tim leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Shirley, his son Terry and wife Cynthia, son Raymond and daughter, Barbara Best, his four grandchildren Brittany, Kathryn, Matthew and Christopher, his sisters Margaret (Terry Whitney), Cathy Mittleholt, and Barbara Clace, his brothers Roger Kusick (& Rosa), Al Kusick (and Bonnie), Bob Kusick (and Maureen) and sister-in-law Lil Kusick. Tim will also leave to mourn his many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Tim was predeceased by his mother Margaret (Rita), his father Timothy, brother Ed Kusick, brother-in-law Ralph Mittleholt and sister-in-law Laurie Statton. Funeral Services for the late Timothy O'Donovan will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, 2006 at 12:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. Tim was a proud and private man, often of few words. However, no matter how little was said, when he loved he loved and those of us fortunate enough to be recipients of it, never doubted it. No amount of words can express how much he was loved and how truly missed he is going to be. To us, he was the greatest man - and will always be. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Tim's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society."
