TIMOTHY SKINNER
It is with extreme heartbreak that we announce the unexpected passing of Timothy Norman Skinner on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the Geraldton Hospital.
Tim was born to Norman and Lillian Skinner at the Geraldton Hospital on October 27, 1945 the first of five boys Mark (predeceased), Rick (predeceased), Kerry and John. He lived in Longlac during his childhood and graduated from the Geraldton High School. He worked at various jobs during his teen years and upon graduation worked for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Longlac and several other northern communities before deciding to further his education in Angola, Indiana, U.S. He later met and married his first wife Sue. They had two boys both residing in Indiana and Tim and his family lived in various locations in the US until Tim moved his family back to Longlac to purchase his parent's business. In 1983, Sue and her two sons returned to the Fort Wayne, Indiana area to live.
He met his second wife Linda in 1982 and she relocated to Longlac with her son and daughter in the spring of 1984. His love of the business and the people held his interest and his heart until his passing on Sunday evening, January 25. He always had a story to tell, a coin to flip, knew the best places to fish and hunt in the area, and knew all the latest gossip. He had a daily morning coffee crew that showed up to the store most mornings to start their mornings with the latest happenings around town including the morning of his passing. I am not sure what he would have wanted to change as it started his day off the right way. If he wanted to know anything, check on his friends, just check in and say hello, he had the phone in his hand and did it immediately.
Tim's love of the business and the people, held his interest for 53 years and he was planning his 54th when his issue with his health said maybe not. I am sure that had he lived, he certainly would have tried.
I am sure that a book could be written about the life of Timothy Norman Skinner and I hope that you look back on your encounters with happiness and thankfulness that you got to be a part of his story.
The thing to know about Tim Skinner was that he came from the North and lived to welcome all of those who wanted to visit and enjoy the lands, lakes and rivers that he loved. He was more than an outdoorsman. He was part of that outdoors, a living personification of the wilds on which he made his life and his living. His knowledge of the roads and waters shall not be replaced, but his welcoming smile will be remembered so long as those whose lives he touched remain on this earth.
A Celebration of Life for Tim will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Skinner's Acre in Longlac. You are invited to his final Porch Jam and pot-luck supper. His remains will be placed in his father's grave in the Longlac Cemetery on Monday, June 8, 2026. I am sure they will spend the rest of time telling their tall tales.
Rest in peace Tim you were certainly loved and will be missed.
Arrangements are in care of Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
