It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Tom Campbell at Riverside Hospital, Fort Frances, Ontario, on December 29, 2025 at age 79.
Tom felt that he was very fortunate during his lifetime and was grateful for the many opportunities that he experienced. He grew up in a close knit family in Montreal with parents Frank and Peggy Campbell and three siblings. He then attended high school in London and after completing college he began a rewarding career with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Tom truly valued his work, his colleagues and the many friendships made. After fulfilling many roles at MNR he retired as the Fort Frances District Manager and started Tom's Tall Pines Contracting with the assistance of his children and son-in-law Chris. Tom thoroughly enjoyed the hands on nature of working on the lake as well as the challenge of completing multiple Canadian Coast Guard contracts.
In these last years he enjoyed curling and golf here in Fort Frances. He was always up for travelling, for boating on Rainy Lake or for enjoying a fine glass of wine. Tom could often be found walking his dog in the bush or working his yard or garage.
Tom's greatest joy was his two children, his pride in them was endless and his love for them unconditional. He was always ready to assist them with a helping hand and supportive advice.
Tom cherished his wife and their life together was a story of deep friendship, commitment and unwavering support. They both knew that they were extremely lucky to have found their heart and home in each other. The joy of a deeply rewarding marriage accompanied them through many adventures together. Both cherished their life together at their home on Rainy Lake. He was grief stricken knowing he was about to leave her behind to carry on alone.
Tom is survived by his wife, Judi Maundrell. His children Debbie Spence (Chris), Rob Campbell (Julie) his siblings Sharon (Bruce) and Ron (Jo). His grand children Brittainy Vanin (Jason), Brayden Spence (Shelby), Cassidy Spence, Jackson and Arleigh Campbell. Great grandchildren Lucas, Mason and Hollis Vanin and Emilia Spence as well as nieces and nephews. Mother in law Irene Maundrell, Brother-in law Richard Maundrell. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Campbell.
As important as family was to Tom so were his friendships, too numerous to mention but in particular Don and Donna Pento, Michael and Gail Willick, Colin and Sandy Williams, Bruce Armstrong.
Tom was a man of integrity and honour. He believed in a strong work ethic and helping out others where he could. He is going to be so deeply missed.
At Tom's request there will be no funeral service. If friends wish, donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Humane Society would be appreciated.
