Tom McDonald Obituary

On Saturday, February 25, 2023 our family lost a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Tom was born in Port Arthur on January 16, 1932, the eldest of ten children. Tom started his career at age 14 as a carman progressing to fireman and then conductor for the CNR. He enjoyed a 33 year career, retiring a proud railroader. In 1955, Tom and Lucille Abraham became husband and wife, and they enjoyed 47 beautiful years of marriage before her passing in 2002. They relocated to Nakina in 1958, raising their three children and making lasting friendships. Dad loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his children, brothers, nephews, and grandchildren at the family camp at Twin Lake, where many cherished memories were made. Dad and Mom travelled throughout North America, always enjoying the company of family and friends. Above all, Tom was a family man who put his family first and foremost. He loved us all deeply. In his retirement he enjoyed, bowling, family game & poker nights, and up for a game or two of crib at a moment's notice.

Tom will be missed by his daughter Bonnie (Tim) Kozak and their children Ryan (Deb) and Marissa (Farley); daughter Cindy Langen and her children Jesse (Julia), Justin (Julia) and Tessa; son Tom (Jackie) and their children Rob, Lyndsay (Rajan), and Andrew; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers Trudy (Ed), Sandra, Linda, Tim (Norma) and Eugene (Pat).

Special thanks to Jessica and the staff of Wesway Court Street for all their care and treating him like family. Also to Aunt Linda for her special visits to Dad. In Tom's memory, cherish your loved ones, spend time with family, hug them, laugh with them, and love them.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel. The service will also be livestreamed via Sargent & Son Facebook page. Tom will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Lucille in a private interment service in St. Andrew's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to Ronald McDonald House.
