Trevor Owens Obituary

April 25, 1947 –
December 3, 2017

It is with profound sadness that the children announce the passing of their father one year ago December 3, 2017.

Trevor was a kind, incredible man whose family and close friends knew him as a man passionate about humanity, animals and solving mysteries.

Trevor was loved and will be missed by his children Jennifer and Michael (Krista Assad) their mother Christine Walters and his wife Gail; his siblings Joyce (Bill Hurd), Joe (Lori), Brian Craven (Laverne); many nieces & nephews and extended aunts, uncles & cousins in Wales, England and Canada. Predeceased by dad Joe Owens, mother Laverne Craven and sisters Linda Hassenhaurer and Betty Serrao.

Trevor died at age 71 years. He was a distinguished Forensic Mental Health Specialist, with an extremely respected reputation. In his early years he worked at St. Joseph's Hospital and was intrigued by the rapidly expanding Forensic Mental Health Sciences Field. In order to pursue these studies, Trevor returned to the University of Windsor graduating with a Masters of Social Work and Psychology and received the Governor General's Award for exceptional scholastic marks. Upon his return to Thunder Bay he joined the Forensic Mental Health unit in its creation serving 50 years in his chosen field.

Trevor loved his family, close friends Jim and Gary, the men and women he worked alongside with, animals, fishing, restoring his classic car and the view of the Sleeping Giant.

He will be remembered as a loyal friend, a loving father, and dedicated professional, a man who would always step forward to help people or animals.

He will always be in the hearts of his children and deeply missed by all.

If friends so desire donations may be made to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society.

We hope that others are inspired by Trevor's life and example and encourage all to pass on a random act of kindness in his memory.
