VERONICA RAJALA
Mrs. Veronica Ann Rajala (nee Ichikawa), age 81 years, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Hospice Unit with family by her side.
Ricki, as she was known by her friends and family, was born on December 5, 1943. She was married on September 25, 1965 to the love of her life, Donald. For 40 years they were inseparable until Don's passing in 2006. Together they raised three sons. Ricki was known to say proudly "I know how to raise boys". Ricki graduated from nursing school in 1965 and worked as an RN for several decades at St. Joseph's Hospital. She still kept in touch with her nursing classmates often going for lunch "with the girls" and planning their next class reunion.
After retiring from nursing, Ricki worked in the family businesses, first with Don, and then with two of her sons in the role of bookkeeper and receptionist. At 81 years old, she was still answering the office phone and doing data entry on the computer. She will be dearly missed by her fan base of customers who would often stay for long visits in the office to chat with her.
Ricki is survived by sons Marty (Crystal), David (Tammy) and John (Susanna). Which son was her favourite she would never say, although it was hotly contested among the 3 boys. She is also survived by grandchildren Victoria, Jessica, Brooke, Jesse, Tucker, Addison and Seija and great grandchild Faye.
