(nee Egeberg)
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Violet “Vi” Moore, age 72, announce her passing on September 1, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital in Thunder Bay. Vi was surrounded by her family and loved ones during her final days as she battled courageously against cancer. Vi was born on March 13, 1949 in Port Arthur to Wilbert and Eileen Egeberg. She graduated from Hammarskjold High School in Business and Commerce. Once the children were grown up she continued her education at Northern College, becoming a dedicated bookkeeper. She was always ready to lend a hand and share her time, whether it was for children's activities including Girl Guides and Boy Scouts; or volunteering in the community. Vi enjoyed time outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. She also had a passion for cooking and crafts; from pancakes to lapskaus; or macrame, doilies, to her latest passion of painting rocks, she a had a knack for creating great pieces. Vi will be deeply missed by her loving husband and partner of 40 years, Peter; daughter Cindy (Roger) Demers; son Pete (Lorna) Moore; daughter Jodi Galick; son Danny (Lina) Galick; brothers, Ross Egeberg, and Cecil (Wendy) Egeberg; grandchildren Jenna (Jesse), Marc, Brandon (Erica), Blair (Jason), Gabrielle, Megan, CJ, Noah, Zachary, and Matthew; and great grandchildren James and Rory. Vi was fondly known as “Aunt Vi” not just to her immediate family, but to many extended family and friends that she welcomed into her life. Vi was many things, wife, mom, nanny, aunt and will be remembered for her kindness, and hospitality. There was never a garage party without too much great food that Vi had planned and prepared to ensure all her guests were taken care of and all their special requests were met. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at both the Thunder Bay Regional and St. Joseph's Hospitals for ensuring Vi was well cared for. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Vi, please consider the Northern Cancer Fund (c/o THRHSF). Vi's final wishes were to be cremated and a small private celebration to take place at a later date.
