VIOLET ZUCCHIATTI Obituary

1921-2023
Violet Zucchiatti (nee Sherwood), passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 24, 2023. Born in Lake Francis, Manitoba, Vi was raised on a farm where she learned the value of hard work and perseverance. At the age of 21, she joined the Wrens and served for 3 years She married the love of her life, Louis Zucchiatti in 1948 and together they had seven children, born and raised in Atikokan, ON. She was blessed to celebrate her 102nd birthday this year. She was the definition of a matriarch with 5 generations of family at the time of her death. Vi was an active member of both her church and the CWL. She was also an avid supporter of many worthy causes over the years. She loved to volunteer her time within the community and also donated generously to world organizations attempting to alleviate suffering. Vi always did her best to stay positive and help others where she could. Violet was a strong and independent woman who left an impression on most everyone she met. She was a feisty red-head who was honest, loyal, and hard-working. She was accepting of people in all walks of life. She had a zest for life and was never afraid to try new things. She definitely never missed a party, or a game of crib for that matter. Violet was survived by her 7 children; Bob (Evelyn), Wendy (Chris), Kathy (David), Mark (Jacqueline), Marlene (Peter), Bonnie (Steve) and Albert (Crystalyn). She was also survived by numerous grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Louis Zucchiatti. Violet never wasted time and she lived life to the full. She will be dearly missed. Prayers will be held on Thursday, November 30, at 7:00 p.m., in the Blake Funeral Chapel. Funeral services for Violet will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am in St. Patrick's Cathedral, celebrated by Msgr. P.M. Stilla. To offer your sympathy, in lieu of flowers, please donate to a Charity of Your Choice in her memory. Lastly, it should be noted that Violet spoke very highly of the care she received at the TBRHSC. Her children would like to recognize Dr. Olga, Natasha, Hillary, Corey and all the other nurses for making their mom so comfortable during this time.

Deepest condolences to the family of Violet Zucchiatti from her cousin Brenda Mason nee Sherwood, and Brenda’s daughters Lynn Parfitt and Janet Leach, originally from Tilehurst, Berkshire, UK. We have fond memories of her visit to us , along with her sisters and husband Lou, back in the early 1980’s and again at Lynn’s wedding in Pangbourne, UK in 1984. Also many thanks to her for sending family photographs to Brenda over the years, which are being added to the online family tree on the LDS site FamilySearch. Brenda has recently moved into residential care - happy to provide more information if required. Kindest regards to the family.

Condolences on the loss of your Matriarch . I have been searching for a dear friend Gege for decades and this obituary appeared on line. Gege if this is your family know that I hold you dear to my heart, my best friend at college and I´m sending love to you all. I lost my mom so long ago, I can imagine the depth of the loss. With deepest respect also apologies if the stars didn´t actually align bringing me to my dear friend. What a life your mom must have lived through so many monumental decades. Be well and safe in this new world .

My sincere condolences to Violet's family. I never met Violet but had the fortune to speak to her on the phone many times, through her support of the Jesuits of Canada. I was very fond of her and always enjoyed our chats and was so sorry to find out just now of her passing. She was an inspiration!
