July 12, 1967 ~ December 1, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce our loving mother, Virginia Rose MacLaurin, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Monday, December 1, 2025 at the age of 58 years.
Rose, as she was affectionately known, was born on July 12, 1967 in Fort William to Dennis MacLaurin and Maureen Bannon and was raised on Fort William First Nation. She attended adult education later in Belleville, Ontario where she went on to work as a secretary, sales clerk and also did some care work with the elderly. Rose loved helping and nurturing others and would give anything for those in need. This was evident by all those who knew her. Rose was loved so much by her family and friends. She had a quirky sense of humour, and could make those around her laugh and bring a smile to everyone's face at any time, especially when she knew we really needed it. Rose was kind, loving and gentle, yet really tough at the same time. Life won't be the same without her, but Mom's spirit lives on in our hearts and in our memories.
Rose will be deeply missed by her daughters, Missy and Victoria (aka Butter); her father Dennis MacLaurin and her sisters Jenelle Bannon (Eugene), Jennifer Spence (John Hamilton), and Billie Jean MacLaurin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She was predeceased by her mother, Maureen Bannon; her sister Bonnie Bannon; her brothers Wesley MacLaurin, Wayne Bannon, and Michael MacLaurin.
Funeral Services for the late Rose MacLaurin will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, when family and friends will gather in St. Anne's Mission Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 1:00pm. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the Church, with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00pm.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 Gore Street at James.
