VITTORIO CACCIATORE

Vittorio Cacciatore, born on December 29, 1935, in Comune Di Marzi, Cosenza, Italy, peacefully departed from this world on March 29, 2024. He was 88 years old.

In pursuit of a better life, he courageously immigrated to Canada in 1954. It was there that he forged his path, embracing new opportunities and challenges with unwavering determination.

In 1956, he met the love of his life Maria in Sapawe, they wed in 1959 and started their family of 4 in Port Arthur.

In 1969, Vittorio embarked on a new chapter of his life graduating from George Brown College where he became a barber. With steady hands and a warm smile, he skillfully crafted haircuts while fostering meaningful connections with his clients. He continued to practice his craft with passion and dedication until the age of 81, leaving a lasting impression on all who sat in his chair.

Throughout his life, Vittorio exemplified resilience, hard work, and compassion. His warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a member for over 50 years of the Italian Society of Port Arthur, Gran Sasso and St. Anthony's Holy Name Society, Eucharistic Minister, and Senior Group.

As we bid farewell to Vittorio, may his soul find peace and may his memory continue to inspire us to live with purpose, kindness, and love.

Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Maria, and their children: Luigi "Gino" (Beatris - deceased), Tina (Kenji) Iwato, Silvana (Timo), Romina (John) Wenzell; grandchildren Alyssa (Elliot), Nikolas, Mitchel, Devon, Mary (Dylan), Teresa, John Paul, Elizabeth and Vittoria Maria; and many nephews, nieces and cousins both in Canada and Italy.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Ernestina (Franco), Ettore (Linda), Nicola (Santina), Mario (Nella) and Gilda (Pierino).

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Miller, Dr. Migay; Vittorio was compassionately cared for by nurses, Georgette "Georgina," and Claudia.

Services to celebrate Vittorio's life and legacy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024 in St. Anthony's Church, 123 Hilldale Road, with Funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. Private entombment will follow in the family mausoleum, St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Anthony's Church or the Pulmonary Foundation are welcomed.
