VITTORIO CIRCELLI Obituary

Mr. Vittorio Circelli, age 80 years, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on January 19, 2024.

Vittorio was born on January 3, 1944, in San Bartolomeo Galdo (Benevento Italy). He was a man of faith, and at the age of 13, he began studying his Catholic faith at a Convent in Santa Maria a Vico for 13 years. In 1970 he went to Switzerland, working in a glass factory, with his brother Amadeo. In 1972, he came to Canada to visit his brother Michele, and eventually moved to Canada permanently. In Canada he met his wife, Carmelina. On February 3, 1973, they were married and had 3 children. Vittorio worked for 25 years at Abitibi Mill, as a machine operator. He also worked as a painter for many years, a passion he shared with his son Mike. Vittorio was a quiet and humble man. Anyone who had the opportunity of knowing him would tell you that he had an infectious smile and never complained even up until his last days. He had a lot of patience and would do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat. He spent countless hours in the summer gardening. He loved making and drinking his homemade wine. He also enjoyed making tomato sauce, and Salami with his family and friends. He enjoyed music, and often played the organ and accordion for his family. His favorite thing to do was having large dinners with his family and you could find Vittorio napping on the couch soon afterwards. But his true passion was for his grandchildren. He was so proud of all their accomplishments as they grew up.

Vittorio is survived by his wife, Carmelina. On February 3, they would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. His children Tony (Michelle), Pina (Pietro), and Mike (Shannon). His grandchildren Matteo, Alexandro, and Presley Victoria, and many family members in Switzerland and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Giuesppina and his brothers Michele and Amadeo.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors who provided exceptional care for Vittorio, especially on 3B, Dr. Storkson, Megan Ross- NP, and Nurses at ParaMed. Also, our deepest thanks to our family and friends who have provided us support during this difficult time.

A celebration of Vittorio's life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at St. Dominic's Church, 130 West Redwood Avenue, with Funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Michael Mahoney. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Andrew's Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Vittorio memory to the Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Care Northwest.

Oh Michelle & Tony: Your dad looked like a happy soul, and reading his write up he sounded like one loveable man. A true Italian. Knowing you & what a nice humble chap you are gives me 'an idea' what a great bringing up you had. Please know, we (David/me) send our regrets to you & Michelle & the rest of your family. God bless Vittorio on his final trip to his forever home.
