WARREN ANTTILA Obituary

ANTTILA It is with sorrow we announce the passing of Warren Anttila on September 9, 2024 shortly after turning 71 years. He was born and raised in Port Arthur and attended Queen's University where he earned an Honours Bachelor Applied Science in Electrical Engineering. He worked in this capacity with the bulk of his career at Bowater. He was a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and served on the executive of the Sault Chapter.

Warren loved the outdoors, in particular his camp at Two Island, visiting Gerry and being on Lake Nipigon, and fishing and hunting with a long-standing group of friends at various camps. He enjoyed moose hunting with the Daniels family. He also loved going to his wife's family camp, fishing with his father-in-law, Tim and AJ in the spring and then closing up in the fall. When Warren got his first retriever he started participating in Pat's hobby of dog training. He became a member of Thunder Bay Kennel and Training Club and served as Treasurer for a number of years. He accompanied her to trials as the support team. He loved nature and when in his boat or in the bush was always looking for wildlife or their tracks. He and Pat drove all over the Yukon and Alaska and went to Scotland to hike and explore.

Warren was predeceased by his parents Paul and Verna and his brother Richard. He is survived by his wife Pat, his daughter Candra, his cousins Heather and Susan, his uncle Mikko, David and in-laws Tim (wife Ines) and Candy, nephews and nieces.

Some people say that when you die you walk towards a bright light. Not Warren. He's in his boat speeding across the water. It's sunny and there's a light west wind and small waves. His retrievers are in the bow, ears and fur blowing back, and his rod and tackle in the back. He's looking ahead while still keeping an eye out for an eagle or heron or a moose on the shore. Farewell, Warren.

Drop in Celebration of Life will be Sunday, September 29th from 2-4p.m. at Canine Coaching (Development) 101 Fortune St.

I met Hog through a friend, George Adomavicius at Queen's university. I knew his family well and went thru Queens with his brother Rimmy. I was in Elrond College at the time on Division Street and we all had a mutual love of wasting time (destressing) by going to the basement to play pinball on the old style machines. Hours of pushing, shaking and swearing were spent together. I lost touch with Hog after Uni and I am sad to hear of his passing. Being an outdoor type I can easily imagine him and his dogs flying across the water in search of the big one.

Although our paths have not passed for many years, I am sorry to hear of Warren's passing , at a young age! Our parents(Marg and Cliff Woods) were dear friends of Verna and Paul, Warren's parents.
