July 14, 1960 – December 1, 2022
Warren Paxton was one of the best and it's devastating that our family has to announce his sudden and completely unexpected passing.
Let us tell you about him.
He was the unwavering rock of our family. Husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He showed up in all these roles as a kind, and thoughtful supporter. He always had a helpful outlook, and solid advice. You could always call on Warren for help. He loved and gave unconditionally his entire life, and never asked or expected anything in return.
His sisters would describe him as generous, gentle, easy-going, reliable, meticulous, dependable, and notably very funny with a dry sense of humour. So even though he was a very quiet man, when needed, he always had the right words to say, often bringing humour to the conversation.
His daughters would describe him as peaceful, calm, humble, thoughtful, intelligent, and loving. The ultimate role model; the perfect dad.
His loving wife of just over 40 years would say he was a sweet dear. Because he was. He took care of his family with grace and ease. He did everything for them and enjoyed doing it. Mel and Warren were each other's greatest love and had the type of relationship others covet. They are a stunning example of a love so strong, where you grow and evolve alongside the other in harmony forever and ever.
He was a car enthusiast, and avid racer: From “borrowing” his older sister's car as a teen, to racing in Brainerd in the 80s, to building his own Pontiac Ventura from the frame up (which he faithfully raced year after year at Terrace Bay Drag Fest), doing auto repairs on the side, and burn outs on the camp road: car stuff was his biggest passion. His first car, a 1965 convertible Pontiac Parisienne still sits in his yard. He was a committed employee: He worked for Metro (formerly A&P) in Grandview since 1976. He took pride in his work and made many friends throughout his career there. Warren also enjoyed being in his garage, and spending time with friends. Weekends were for visiting. Sunday dinners at his father Jim Paxton's house (aka camp) with all the family was essentially tradition. Fridays and Saturdays he regularly showed up to visit friends with a couple cold ones in hand before heading home to tinker in the garage. Many of us will be having a beer and listening to Rush in memory of him for many Saturday nights to come.
Warren will be deeply missed by so many. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Melanie, his daughters Laura (Stefan) and Megan, and grandchildren Hannah and Milena. His sisters Marla (George), Charlene (Ray), Lana (Rod), along with nieces and nephews from the Paxton side. Gwen (Maurice), Ronalee, nieces and nephews from the in-laws side, cousins, and friends.
Melanie, Laura and Megan would like to thank all the family and friends who have rallied around to help in every way, it's so incredibly appreciated. We'd also like to thank the first responders who showed up and did their best, and the funeral home for their tenderness in this most difficult time.
There will be no funeral, however a celebration of life will be held for Warren this summer, around his birthday.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made in his name to George Jeffrey Children's Centre or the Thunder Bay Humane Society.
