WAYNE VERRILL Obituary

WAYNE TIMOTHY VERRILL
Wayne Verrill, aged 81 years, passed away surrounded by family on the evening of Friday, September 12, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with dementia.

An electrician by trade, Wayne worked at the Port Arthur Shipyards, Great West Timber, Shebandowan Mine, Great Lakes Paper, and the Thunder Bay Terminals. He also did residential work on the side and "flipped" a number of houses. As a young man, Wayne joined the United States Marine Corps and lived in the U.S. for three years. After retirement, he became a Snowbird, spending seven winters on the beach in Florida.

Wayne was a kind and generous man who found joy in helping others and was happiest when he had a project on the go. He loved fishing, boating, and any activity that involved being on the water.

Wayne was predeceased by his father, Ralph (1961); his stepfather, Nat (2007); his son, David (2015); and his mother, Olive (2016).

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan; his son, Stephen; daughter-in-law, Aynsley and their children, Piper and Iris. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Stacey and her children, Reilly and Aiden; his brother, David; and his cousin, Alice, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, and Southern Ontario.

The family would like to thank all those who supported Wayne throughout the last few years of his illness, especially Sheiliagh, Keith, and Lisa. A special thank-you goes to the caring staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor on 2S Bluebell. Because of their excellent care, I was able to leave Wayne after each visit knowing he was safe and well cared for.

Funeral Services for Wayne will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Jenkens Funeral Home at 11:00 am officiated by Seann Hawkins. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Susan and Wayne became part of our family when our daughter Aynsley married Stephen. We have shared many good times in the past twenty years and ,of course, two lovely granddaughters. Sending love from Winnipeg, it was an honour to know Wayne.
