WENDY STEWART
Carol Wendy Stewart, affectionately known as Wendy, was born June 12, 1943, in Toronto and passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 6, 2026. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Jack (d. 2022), with whom she shared nearly 60 beautiful years of marriage.
Her love lives on through her children, Christine (Rob) and David (Jackie). She is predeceased by her daughter, Karen (d. 1977). She was the proudest Grandmother to Allison (Peter) and Bradley (Brooke), and a great-grandmother to Landon and Wren. Wendy was the daughter of the late Irene and Roy Austin, and is survived by her sister, Diane.
Wendy's life was defined by the warmth she created for others. In 1977, she and Jack moved to Port Elgin, where they built a life filled with laughter and a community of lifelong friends. For two decades, they escaped the winters as "snowbirds" in Mesa, Arizona - a time made even more special by the company of Jack's brother Ron and his wife Sheila, who was also Wendy's childhood friend. At Greenfield Village, they enjoyed hosting street parties for their neighbours and entertaining their visiting grandchildren.
A passionate cook, Wendy shared her talents professionally with the CAW and personally in her home kitchen for her family and friends. When she wasn't in the kitchen she would be shopping, enjoying the thrill of a casino trip, dealing the cards, or listening to the music of Rod Stewart, Barbra Streisand, and Elton John. In her later years in Thunder Bay, she never missed an opportunity to see a live show, especially the Roy Coran Big Band and her favourite Elvis impersonator, Daylin James.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Southbridge Roseview Manor and Chartwell Thunder Bay for their compassionate care.
Friends and family are invited to a church service and celebration of life to be held at 11 a.m. at the Port Elgin Missionary Church, followed by a luncheon at the Walker House in Southampton on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
