Wesley Rogers passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Thunder Bay.
Wesley was born on June 21, 1932 near Kitscoty, Alberta. He lived in several places in Saskatchewan including Lloydminster, Mainstone, Loon Lake and Cut Knife. Wesley moved east with his family to Stratton, Ontario, Fort Frances and then to Thunder Bay in 1943 where he resided ever since.
Wesley worked at Great Lakes Lumber and Shipping Ltd. Sawmill and various construction jobs until starting at Great Lakes Paper in 1950 and after 42 years of service, Wesley retired in 1992. He served in the 67th L.A.A. Regt. (M) from 1950-1955 and was a member of Branch 6, Royal Canadian Legion, the Ontario S.P.C.A., Thunder Bay Hiking Club and was a life member of C.E.P. Union Local 39. Wesley served as president of the local branch C.O.R. political party. He even started an international short wave listener's club that had members on every continent. Wesley worked with several organizations fighting just causes.
Bible study, hiking, the history of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railroad, collecting military souvenirs and coin collecting were among Wesley's vast interests.
He was predeceased by his father Mike, mother Winnifred in 1993, brother Dannie (killed in 1964), aunts Kitty Tonge, Connie MacInnis, uncle Eddy Bridle and very close life long friends Kathy Shermack in 1999 and Marg Kusznier in 2003.
Funeral Services for Wesley Rogers will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home with visitation starting one hour prior. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Slovak Legion after the interment. Evening visitation will be held Wednesday January 21, 2026 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home.
