We are heartbroken to announce the too-soon passing of Wilfred John Felteau, 67. He was the much beloved son of Irene and Wilfred Felteau. Wilf loved interacting with people and answered the perfect professional calling in sales. He won numerous high earning accolades and awards from Bell Canada Yellow Pages where he won the privilege of serving the advertising needs in the Northwest Territories; a place he loved and shone brightest, as well as businesses in Thunder Bay and across Northwestern Ontario. Wilf was smart, funny, and deeply compassionate. He was a graduate of Lakehead University in Politcial Science and the University of Windsor School of Business and enjoyed his service in Rotary and the Executive Club. No wonder Wilf was a successful salesperson. He started work at the age of 14 at the Hodder Avenue Hotel and Dairy Queen under the kind and generous tutelage of Tony Sisco and the Hinton boys who were like brothers to him. He enjoyed strong friendships with his Current River besties: Don Benson, Stan and Wayne Bossinger. He was loyal to the friendships forged working at Abitibi Paper Mill while he saved for university tuition. He was the best barbequer, gift giver, prankster, and speed boat driver at the family camp at East Loon Lake. By far, the best part of Wilf's life was deeply loving his children Nathan and Kara. Ever since they were young, to build excitement of the seasons, he delighted in designing elaborate Christmas and Halloween light displays long before it was popular. He cherished time spent as a family skiing, golfing, and camping and watching their special talents flourish. As well, sitting at the dining room table while sharing his endless love, devotion, support, and words of wisdom was important to Wilf. He was extremely happy to boast about the kind, smart adults they have become, and we know that they will carry his love and wisdom in their hearts. Wilf had a big, soft heart and he especially loved lavishing his healthcare team with praise and gratitude. Throughout his life, Wilf was guided and comforted by his deep abiding faith. He is survived by his beloved children Nathan and Kara, so deeply loved by his mother Irene Felteau and his sisters Melissa, Kim, and Charlene, as well as an extended family. Predeceased by his father Wilfred, grandparents May and John Felteau, Doris and John Koziy, aunts and uncles Elsie and Bob McGill, Marlene and Jack Froese. Ruth Cirko, Joan and Rene Morin, Jack Felteau, and his favourite Ukrainian babysitter Mary Mosindy for whom he was the apple of her eye. A family funeral will be held September 30th. Should the honour of remembrance be desired, donations may be directed to the
Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Society.
