Our beloved William (Paddy) Arthur passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 6th at the age of 74, at his home in Chilliwack, British Columbia. He was born on March 17, 1947 in Port Arthur, Ontario to Mary and Wilbert Arthur. Paddy and his family resided in Port Arthur/Thunder Bay until 2001 when they moved to B.C. Paddy is sorely missed by his son Devin Arthur (Nova), granddaughter Tessa, and grandson Reilly, his sisters, Marlene Hogarth (Bill), Christine Lod (Byron), Catherine Arthur, and brother Robert Arthur (Francine). He was a loving uncle to Mary Hogarth (Fritz), Christine Hogarth (Paul), Tamara Coffey (Robert), Beau Arthur (Laura), Ryan Arthur (Bonnie), David Lod (Tanis), Elizabeth Lod (Devin #2), Alexander Lod (Chantal), and Adam Arthur (Lindsay) and many grand-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Marilyn (Grottenberg), parents Mary and Wilbert Arthur, nephew William Hogarth, brother-in-law William Hogarth, and parents-in-law Mae and Melvin Grottenberg. Paddy attended Port Arthur Collegiate Institute and Laurentian University where he excelled at both academics and football. At a young age he overcame immense challenges, forming his strength, will and entrepreneurial spirit. He took on managing the New Ontario Hotel, then later, owning and operating The Office lounge. Determined, he launched a career in construction; first as a self-employed home builder, then as an established general contractor and site superintendent, until his retirement in his sixties. Paddy was, in his employer's words, as honest and hard-working as they came. His skills as a contractor were not limited to the job however, as Paddy willingly shared his know-how with the countless people that were fortunate to have worked alongside him. Paddy, Marilyn, and Devin spent their summers at camp on Lake Superior, where the door was always open for friends and family to stay and enjoy a meal he would have lovingly cooked. Known as a coupon collector, he opted for the plain-and-simple. However, when it came to others, Paddy's passion was to give - be it time and effort on a renovation project, presents given at Christmas and birthdays, or covering the bill for dinner at a restaurant. Paddy's love, generosity and kindness will be with all of us always, in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in the Chapel of Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N Court Street. Those wishing to attend are asked to register on Paddy's page at www.sargentandson.com or call the funeral home 345-5351. Paddy's house, was one good football kick away from ours. He was one of the big kids at St. James and always treated us younger children with respect. He always had a big smile and a kind word to say as years went by. At one time or another, everyone of my family was a friend of every Arthur. My self I had a crush on Christine. Paddy was a wonderful man, who was respected and admired by many. My condolences to his family and all that loved him.

Lovely service and added to my knowledge of Paddy. We are Paddy's "Happy Hour" friends from Hazelwood Grove in Chilliwack. We already miss Paddy's warm, friendly and sweet personality. He was a gentle giant to me and he called me Chatty Kathy which was fitting. Blessings to the family as you keep his memory alive through the stories. He is missed at Hazelwood.
