WILLIAM BUTUK Obituary

BUTUK, WILLIAM, P.Eng, FEC
William "Bill" Butuk passed away peacefully with his son by his side on March 27, 2024 in his eighty-fifth year.

He was a very proud Rotarian with the Lakehead and Fort William clubs, serving several terms as President, Secretary, and being honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Professionally, he worked for CanCar and retired from Thunder Bay Hydro in 1988, then did electrical safety demonstrations at local schools for several years. In addition, he taught Electrical Engineering at Lakehead for eight semesters and was named as a Fellow of Engineers Canada for his contributions to the profession nationally. He also enjoyed spending many winters in Harlingen, Texas.

Bill dedicated plenty of his time to local children's organizations, including being President of the Children's Aid Society, Boys and Girls Club and Family and Children's Services Foundation. He was also a past Exalted Ruler and frequent patron of the local Elks Club.

Bill is survived by his son Marcus (Debbie) of Owen Sound, brother John (Gloria) of Kelowna and granddaughter Ryleigh of Sutton West. He was predeceased by Victoria, his wife of 52 years, and his parents John and Helen.

A very special thank you to his nephew Nick Baysarowich and nurse/neighbour Carol Dagenais for caring for him in recent years.

A private family burial has taken place, and a celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the TBRHSF Northern Cancer Fund.

Debbie, Mark and the entire extended family I would like to express my condolences on the loss of Bill. I worked with Bill for many years at Thunder Bay Hydro and he was always a very kind and friendly man who was very professional yet he often shared stories of many interesting experiences that occurred throughout his life. He will now be with Vicki once again whom he missed so dearly all these years. Rest in Peace Bill.

Sending condolences to all of the Butuk family. I have many fond memories of working with you Dad at Thunder Bay Hydro. I enjoyed the many conversations we had while on coffee breaks in his board room. Cherish your memories.
