With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. William Robert (Bob) Davey, aged 82. Bob passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Born on May 23, 1943, Bob attended Balsam Street School and Hillcrest High School before embarking on a long and dedicated career as a heavy equipment mechanic. He met his beloved wife, Margaret (Bennett), while they were both working at Capital Equipment. They were married on March 27, 1976, beginning a lifelong journey together.
Bob and Marg shared a deep passion for their camp at Starnes Lake, which they built from the ground up. For nearly 50 years, the camp has been the setting for countless cherished memories fishing, playing cards (especially cribbage), and spending time with family and friends.
Bob was a man of few words and a generous heart, with welcoming arms and a gentle spirit. He was kind, quick-witted, and patient, and always willing to help anyone especially with automotive problems! After the loss of Marg in 2023, Bob carried on taking great comfort in weekends at camp with his grandkids, dogs, campfires and golf cart rides. He will be sorely missed.
Bob is survived by his sons, Mike (Jessica), Scott (Taralee), and George; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Evelyn, Lachlan, Mallory, Abigail, Andrew, Nikole, and Hannah. He will also be remembered with great affection by his many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, and fondly missed by his granddogs especially his special camp companion, Tegan.
Bob was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; his brothers, Alan and Gerry; his parents, Bernard and Gladys; and his parents-in-law, Irwin and Helen Bennett.
The Davey family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Mary Jane and Enn Kurm for their constant care, kindness, and exceptional support of Bob over many years, both at home and during his hospital stay. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Alison Carroll, whose visits, care, and thoughtfulness meant so much to Bob. We are deeply appreciative of Bob's neighbours both at home and at camp for watching out for him. Sincere thanks are also given to the compassionate nurses and staff who cared for him in his final weeks, with special appreciation to Nurse Evan and Drs. Haddad and McCallum.
Cremation has taken place, and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
