William Langford Obituary

William Everett Langford, age 97 years, passed away in the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre on Sunday, September 23, 2007. Everett was born and raised in Fort William (Thunder Bay). He married Pearl Finlay in 1940. He attended Queen's University, Operated a corner grocery store in Fort William, joined the RCAF in World War Two and worked at the Great Lakes Paper mill (Bomar) until his retirement in 1975. His home and family were very important to Everett. He and Pearl were lifelong members of Wesley United Church. In 1999 he and Pearl moved to live with son Bill and Anne Langford in Guelph. Since 2001, he has lived with son Gordon in Edmonton. Everett is survived by his two sons Bill, Guelph, and Gordon, Edmonton; daughter-in-law Anne, Guelph; grandchildren Cathena (Jason Kent), Anne (Lance Wylie), Robert, Guelph, and Allison (Todd Archer), Maryland USA; great-grandchildren Judah and Ione Kent, Guelph; brother Garfield (Catherine), Shawnigan Lake BC; sisters-in-law Ruby Green, Sidney BC and Jean Finlay, Thunder Bay; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Evelyn Warren and his wife Pearl in 2001. A memorial service and reception will be held at Wesley United Church, 130 N. Brodie St. starting at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2007. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A tree will be planted in memory of W. Everett Langford in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest at the Guelph Arboretum. If friends desire, memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
