ALLAN LEVINSOHN Obituary

With deep sadness I announce Allan Levinsohn, the love of my life, died January 16, 2022. He was in our home as per his wishes, and just three weeks shy of his 69th birthday. He will also be missed by his sister Lorraine Parry (Mike), his sister-in-law Carol Brown, his brother Axel Massinen (Inge) and their family, his many friends and colleagues, and, of course, our poodle Charlie. We were married in 1975 while still at university. He was 22, I was 23, both far too young and impulsive but it was the smartest thing we ever did. When you know, you know. We lived in Edmonton, in a VW van, in Canmore, then in Gibsons. Allan never held a grudge and was always able to see the humour in pretty much everything but not in a cruel way. He loved being in the outdoors, hiking, skiing, biking, gardening, breathing. Allan loved learning and sharing what he learned with others. He became interested in information systems and started his consulting firm in 1985. This led him to associations with the Banff Centre for Management and the Alberta Research Council and learning institutions in Canada, Europe, the United States and China. After moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2006 Allan quickly made friends and joined the Gibsons Garden Club and then the Gibsons Seniors' Society making significant contributions to both. Tearful hugs of gratitude to Drs. Ardashes Avanessian, Paul Murphy, Sarah Wadge, the many compassionate members of the Palliative Care Unit and the Home Care Nurses who were involved in Allan's care during the final months of his life. Born to Danish parents, Sven and Else, Allan was cremated and will be given to the Salish Sea as a proper Sun Coaster Viking deserves. Remember him with love, he was one of the good ones. Allan, I will always love you. Sandy Brown.

I am so sorry Sandy, our sincere condolences. You probably don't remember us (Brian and Sue, Yellowknife). You and Allan came over for dinner once as Allan and I were working together.
Allan came into a dream last week and so I searched to reach out to him. I will reach out in prayers and meditation.
Find all the joy in life there is and the beautiful memories.
Sincerely,
Brian and Sue

So sad to have missed a chance to see Allan before he passed. We lost touch with each other but were very close earlier in life and I always regarded him as one of the best friends I have been fortunate to have had. I often thought about him and Sandy over the years and deepest sympathies to her and the family.

Our thoughts are with you. I have known Allan and been a friend of his since Grade 8. We even shared an apartment at university. I have seen him grow to be a most fantastic partner with Sandy. We, Judy, Alex, Megan and myself, miss him. I hope all will think of Allan and remember the good times we experienced with him and smile and think good thoughts.
