BRYAN CARSON Obituary

Beau Carson and Sue said goodbye to their best friend Bryan October 10, 2022. Bryan had been a fixture of the Sunshine Coast for more than 50 years, before moving to Qualicum Beach four years ago. As a journalist, he was a founder of Geist Magazine, where one of his gigs was to invent a new crossword puzzle for very issue. He was also well known for his columns in the Sechelt Press. As a member of the community, he was an early member of the Halfmoon Bay Fire Department, serving as the training officer for many years, and retiring only because "old farts should give way to new guys." He was a founding member, both as an actor and director of Penninsula Players which staged dinner theater twice a year. He went on to act in many Driftwood Productions, notably "On Golden Pond". He and his "old fart" friends then went on to stage many more plays. When he retired his lawn mower on Redrooffs, he and his wife journeyed to Qualicum Beach where they and Beau explored Vancouver Island by foot and by camper. No service by request, but raise a glass of wine to remember a wonderful man.

When I worked at the Sunshine Press and the Sechelt Press, Brian was one of the kindest people who worked there.
May his words live forever...

Jim and I were very sorry to read of Bryan´s death. He was a terrific person with keen observation and ever ready wit. His writing always brought a chuckle.
Bryan, Sue, and Bryan´s late father, Herb were very kind to us when we were neighbours and the thought of those days has made for fond memories.
Our sympathy goes to you, Sue. Our thoughts are with you.

I first met Bryan in September of 1959 at UBC where we stayed in the same dorm - St. Andrew´s Hall. He was a very creative, humorous and interesting guy. He would often have a different take on things. I always enjoyed his company.
After University we both ended up on the coast When I retired from teaching, I became one of the "old farts" acting on the coast. I will always be thankful that Bryan was brave enough to cast me in my first principal role.

Bryan was a creative spirit who was fun to be with. I shall miss him.
