Davida Corse Obituary

The light reflecting off the ocean at sunset, a bird on a nearby branch, a flower blooming in an unexpected place, a song too good to resist, a delight!

Davida Corse, born August 4th , 1951; died February 4th , 2026 with determination and grace.

Predeceased by many kind and marvellous souls, who are so happy to have her with them, including Robert Corse who took her as his wife and never let go…

She leaves behind (to carry on her joy, passion, and love of a good game!) her children: Jon, Emi, and Will; their loves, Connie and Christina; grandchildren Robyn, Garnet, and Joe; and a curated collection of amazing friends that she continued to add to throughout her life.

Davida was born in London, grew up in Montreal, embarked on her adulthood in Vancouver, and for the last 30 years was so delighted to live on the Sunshine Coast. She revelled in the Coast's beauty, it's wandering backroads and trails, and the community of warm and wonderful people that she came to know through her work at Life Labs, as the Roberts Creek Hall manager, and
through her involvement in activities and events. She would often say, "I don't know what I did to be so lucky to get to live here…"

Davida had a voracious appetite for beauty. Though she denied it, she was an artist. Her home, her crafts (knitting! pottery! watercolours!), her beloved garden, and the meals she created were a testament to her vision and her talent. She shared her creations generously and with a nonchalance that belied the magic of her gifts. Whether a baby hat, a pair of socks, a jar of blackberry jelly, or a piece of pottery, her love was made manifest in what she gave.

Davida had an innate curiosity and love of knowledge. To this end, she embarked on numerous trips to far off places, often with unconventional travel plans… Ireland, Corsica, Chiapa de Corzo. Though she loved her wild itineraries she also held a soft spot for gentler holidays and enjoyed resort vacations in Mexico with ocean, sun, iguanas, and chilaquiles… sometimes as a solo traveler and sometimes in the company of friends and family.

A lifelong learner, she received Doctorates from the CBC in World History, Current Affairs, Music Appreciation, and Interesting Facts. In recent years she went on to pursue post doctoral research with various streaming services (despite her general disdain for modern technology),
specializing in Korean Period Dramas, Quirky Family Stories from the Middle East, and Brooding Scandinavian Detectives. She loved to share what she had discovered and was always quick with a recommendation for something strange and wonderful.

The unique light she shared with the world will be missed.

In lieu of flowers we invite you to do something delightful with someone you love, take a moment to appreciate something wild and beautiful, or to provide an unexpected kindness for a stranger.

Celebration of Davida's Life to be held at the Atrium of the Gibsons Public Market, May 9th 2026 at 2:00pm.
