JOYCE KOLIBAS Obituary
December 14, 1926 – September 15, 2018
Our beloved wife and mother laid aside the body which had become too heavy on the morning on September 15, 2018 at Shorncliffe Residence in Sechelt, B.C. Joyce will always be remembered for her love of life, dancing and music, and most of all the joy she took in helping others. Organizations which benefited from this over the course of her life included the Sons of Scotland (Lord of the Isles camp) in New Westminster, Guides and Brownies over many years in Richmond and Sechelt, the Sechelt Senior Citizens Association, the art gallery, and the Sechelt Writer's Festival. She also spent 17 years in Sechelt's local government as councilor and mayor. Hiking and the outdoors were another important element of her busy life - if it was a choice between housework and hiking, hiking won every time. She didn't (technically) swim, but she loved nothing better than plunging into the ocean on Sechelt's waterfront to happily dogpaddle, even when everyone else had put in a toe and retreated ("it's beautiful!").
Joyce will be dearly missed by her husband of 56 years Michael, her daughter Sandra (Murray), and myriad nieces and nephews from her four brothers and sisters who predeceased her.
Many thanks to the Gardenview staff at Shorncliffe for their devoted care and attention over the last two years.
Small service at a later date.
