My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

I was very sad to learn of Richard's untimely death.
I remember Richard with great fondness. He was Or Shalom's office administrator during the time I was co-chair. We worked together very closely on a variety of issues and projects. I especially enjoyed his sense of humour, dedication, and unique perspective on life.
May Richard's memory be for a blessing and may his family and friends find comfor

I am saddened to learn of Richard's passing, and so I share these memories. Visiting with Richard at Or Shalom was always very special for me. I remember my mostly coming and going and Richard's coming and going and in the midst of these travels, we would stop to chat and have brief but very sweet exchanges. I remember that we spoke about writing and the importance of preserving the stories of our lives, and I remember that Richard shared with me his love of that writing. Those days were early in my own writings, and receiving Richard's appreciative words felt like like a stamp of approval. They warmed my own writing practice then. Our conversations were illuminations for me, and their friendliness lit up my path. I send to all his family and friends these small reflections about a very special man. I hope they might be of some comfort in this time of their heartbreaking loss.

Richard was a gentleman and a mensch. Spent many hours in my home watching movies and having deep discussions with Barry when he was ill. Very sad news. May his family be comforted by the love Richard leaves behind.
