I was shocked and saddened to recently learn of Bob's passing - much too soon. My condolences to his family, particularly to Karen. Bob was a good man, and accomplished so very much!

I don’t mind saying that Bob’s unexpected departure came as a big shock to me! I didn’t even realize he was sick. I just assumed he would go on forever! Granted, my only contact these last several years was through Bob’s numerous articles in the Link Magazine, our BCLS quarterly. I read each of those with great interest, always thankful that he took the time to do so.
However, there was a time when I did see Bob on a regular basis, as our tenure on our Board of Management overlapped by four years. Many a long evening, after the formal part of the day was done, we would engage in pleasant discussion, often about hunting and fishing. He was a fine gentleman, and I truly enjoyed being around the man.
So now, I guess the Big Question is: will both of us wind up in the same place? I sincerely hope so!
So long my good friend. It was a privilege knowing you.

Bob was a Land Survey colleague of mine and I can attest to the very high regard to which we, the members of both the ACLS and ABCLS hold him. His life memberships are a manner in which that regard is demonstrated.
I personally always felt more professional when he was in the room.
He will be dearly missed by us all.

How can I come to Sechelt and not see the Giant of a man I knew as Robert. My husband and I had some great meals with Robert and Karen padded with quantities of wine!! I never saw him without a smile and a chuckle. And I can attest to how much he lived those grandchildren! Rest on, Robert. The fight of your life is behind you but your legacy will always shine in front of you!

Though our family grieves, we also celebrate the man who packed more adventure & service into his life than anyone else I know. He is now at peace after battling cancer and we are grateful for the years we shared with him. We nicknamed him the Senator, for he was our "go to" man.
He was a, brother, son, father, husband, grandfather, uncle, friend, mentor, surveyor, outdoorsman, fly-fisherman, geo-cacher, GPS expert, hiker, volunteer, bird-watcher, stamp & coin collector, naturalist, author, hunter, gardener, forager, historian, cyclist, organizer and a builder.
To his family, he was so much more.
A life well-lived.
RIP Robert

Sometimes life isn’t fair. Robert was taken from this world far to soon. He was a good/kind person. Always there when something/someone needed assistance, or just an ear.
Janet and I will miss him. Spent 35 years with Robert in the Lions Club and SCLHS. The Lions and community will miss his expertise.
Gone, but not forgotten.
Our condolences to Karen, Chris, Andrew and the family. Rest In Peace Robert.
