Barbara Burtch Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mom Barbara Burtch surrounded by family.

Barbara was predeceased by her cherished husband Charlie of 53 years, and is survived by her children Denise Hardman (Matt) and Michael Burtch, as well as her grandchildren Trenton and Morgan. Barbara also leaves behind her brother and sisters-in-law, Bill and Jacqui Windsor, Maribel Rothfield and Irene Strand, as well as nieces and nephews.

Born to Alice Ball and Charles Windsor, Barbara grew up in Steveston, B.C. where her great-grandfather built and co-owned the Gulf of Georgia Cannery from 1894-1926. As a teenager, Barbara spent summers working in the cannery preparing salmon.

After graduating from high school, Barbara went to work as a secretary at Canadian Pacific Airlines where she eventually met her husband Charlie. They settled in Tsawwassen, B.C., where they remained in the same home for over five decades, raised their two children and maintained a beautiful home and garden together.

Barbara dedicated her life to caring for her family through home-cooked meals, tending to her vegetable garden and providing a beautifully maintained home. An avid walker, she and Charlie enjoyed walking regularly around Tsawwassen up until recent years. They enjoyed many travelling adventures throughout the years with family and dear friends and particularly loved cruising. Barbara enjoyed watching baseball and enjoyed scorekeeping at her son's youth ball games in younger years, later watching and cheering on her beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
