Beryl CLARRIDGE Obituary

CLARRIDGE, Beryl Iris "but everyone called her Billie" May 20, 1921 - July 14, 2017 Passed away peacefully, with daughters by her side. Pre-deceased by Reg, her husband of 68 years, sisters Grayce, Elsie and Mavis, brother Bernard, and niece Janice. Lovingly remembered by daughters Lynda Moss (Doug), Beverly Wisnicki (Michael) and Valerie Wilson (Jim), grandchildren Jennifer, Amy, Sam and Joe, son-in-law John, and great-grandchildren Molly, Nora, Erin and Hazel. Billie was an energetic dynamo who inspired everyone she met to have fun and get the most out of life. A crackerjack baseball player in her youth, she could still call a strike a strike in her 90s. An avid skier, she would hike up Hollyburn Mountain with her skis in the days before chairlifts, and enjoyed many skiing holidays with her family. A devoted swimmer - she took the plunge every day, well into her 80s. As evidenced, she enjoyed fishing and boating in the waters of B.C. But many will remember her best as a champion golfer who was no stranger to the hole-in-one. Billie was a wartime bride who raised three daughters. She was an awesome Granny ("Mamie") and Great-Granny who never hesitated to put herself in harm's way if it meant protecting those she loved. She rescued children from the bottom of pools and the centre of blackberry patches, fought off hoards of bees, patched knees, sang funny songs, made killer sandwiches, and still managed to have a martini waiting for Reg when he got home from work. They really don't make people this classy anymore. Billie, Mom, Mamie, GG - we will miss you so much!

Dear Lynda, Doug and the whole family,

How sad it makes me to hear this news.

I have many wonderful memories of your mother, even from her days on Eastcot Road backing onto the Capilano Golf Course, her favourite view!!

She exhibited all of the attributes listed in your obituary, but my memories of her are mostly as the dignified and gracious mother host at your family functions.

You all loved her so well and were loved well in return which will be a great comfort to you during these difficult days.

Love
