Bud SODERLING Obituary

SODERLING, Bud and Maud It is with a heavy heart to announce the peaceful passing of Maud Kathleen Soderling on May 22, 2021 at the age of 89. Two short months later, the love of her life, Clarence "Bud" Stanley Soderling peacefully passed away to be with his beloved Maud. Bud and Maud had been together for 75 years, were apart for 58 days, and are now forever in each other's loving arms. Family meant the world to Bud and Maud, being so proud of each and every one. Bud and Maud are survived by their daughter Sandra Whittle; daughter in law Liz Soderling; 5 grandchildren, Michael (Heather) Soderling; Christopher (Adi Aharon) Soderling; Laura (BJ) Mayer; Roger Soderling; and Jenn (Kevin) Whittle; and 5 great grandchildren, Noa and Elon Whittle, Ava and Max Mayer and Miri Soderling; Bud and Maud's dear, long time friends, Marjean Park from Toronto and Helen Kind from Langley. Bud and Maud were predeceased by their beloved son, Greg Soderling in 2002. Bud and Maud met in high school at the age of 15 and began their wonderful life, spending much of their lives on the water. Maud was born in Vancouver on August 16, 1931 to a family of Norwegian commercial fishermen. Maud and later Bud, would spend many hours aboard the Sentinella exploring the West Coast of BC. Many years later, they spent wonderful family time cruising with Sandra and Greg on their 29 foot Mariner, exploring the waters of Howe Sound, the Gulf Islands, and Desolation Sound. Later, they moved to a larger vessel, enjoying countless cruises to Mexico and Alaska. In their latter years, they loved nothing more than to walk the seawall or sit on an Ambleside bench, watching all the boats passing by. A Celebration of Life honouring Bud and Maud will be held on August 27th at 10:30am at Highlands United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
