HAREN, Carol Ann
October 5, 1935 - December 14, 2024
Carol Ann Haren, 89 years old, of Delta, BC, died peacefully on December 14, 2024, at the Irene Thomas Hospice.
Carol was born in Toronto on October 5, 1935, to Donald and Helen Thomson, big sister to William and Donald. Carol grew up in a military home, moving back and forth between Ontario and BC. In 1955, she enlisted in The Royal Canadian Air Force in Kingston. She began working for the Royal Bank in 1957 before moving to England in 1961 to train as a nurse. After completing three years of General Nursing, she went on to train as a midwife. By 1966, Carol moved to Alice Springs, Australia, where she worked as a maternity nurse. She met James Haren in 1967, who she later married in 1970. James and Carol moved back to Canada, and Carol began a rewarding 30-year nursing career at Richmond General Hospital. Retirement brought about the opportunity for more travel, including four mission trips to Thailand in her golden years. Carol lived a life filled with much kindness and generosity. She knew her Saviour loved her, and now she lives in his everlasting arms.
Carol was predeceased by her husband James and brothers William and Donald and is survived by her daughter Elaine; son Matthew (Joanne); nephew Darrell (Tracey); great-nieces Paige and Taylor; great-great-niece Lydia; grandchildren Lisa, Fletcher and Sienna; and great-grandchildren Ludovic and Bella.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cedar Park Church in Ladner on December 20 at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or The
Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
