Daniel Wittenberg Obituary
Daniel "Dan' Wittenberg
In our hearts forever.
Daniel "Dan" Wittenberg grew up in Vancouver and spent most of his life in Delta, where he lived in the home he built with his own hands in his twenties – a lasting testament to his skill, determination, and vision.
A natural-born leader, Dan lived a life with a deep sense of adventure, ambition, curiosity, accomplishment, and devotion to friends and family. He was the heart of his family, bringing people together wherever he went. Summers were often spent on Lake Samish enjoying unforgettable days of water skiing and winters found Dan and those he loved on the mountains snow skiing together.
Dan was a phenomenal athlete who broke records as a Canadian champion water skier and was admired for his talent, sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
Dan dedicated his life to the construction industry, beginning with his father's business and rising to become one of the top executives in Western Canada in the Foundation Company and Daon Development Company. His legacy can be seen in the skyline of Vancouver through landmark projects such as the Guinness Tower and Harbour Center.
Never complacent, Dan later founded International Marine Floatation Systems and successfully pioneered the floating home industry including the first-of-its-kind Canoe Pass Village in Ladner.
Dan's hobbies were lifelong projects fueled by craftsmanship, mechanics and friendship. In a garage he built at just 16 years old, Dan and friends built a 1928 Ford Pickup hot-rod. More than 50 years later, he brought that dream back to life and recreated the same award-winning hotrod. True to Dan's spirit, it was never just for show – he drove it thousands of miles, including a memorable trip to California with his daughter.
Dan is survived by his wife Shannon; his daughter Candace (Joel); bonus son Graham (Angharad); bonus daughter Meagan; grandsons Carter and Rowan; his three sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held at Delta Funeral Home in Ladner B.C. on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. All who wish to honor Dan are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Dan's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or
